Felix Blackman - Director

Felix Blackman's journey through the world of design and architecture is a unique tapestry woven with artistic DNA. Born and raised in the Bohemia of Sydney's Paddington during the 1980s, he was destined for a life immersed in the arts. The son of celebrated artists Genevieve de Couvreur and the legendary Charles Blackman, and brother to the extraordinary Bertie Blackman, Felix's creative lineage runs deep.

Felix's creative odyssey began at UNSW College of Fine Arts during his early design years, leading him to the Billy Blue School of Graphic Arts in Sydney, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Design - Visual Communication. He received the prestigious Green Carrot Award for the most creative student in 2006.

In 2007, Felix's moved to Tasmania, to study architecture. He honed his skills at the esteemed University of Tasmania, School of Architecture. He gained a bursary to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 2010/2011. Felix graduated with a Masters of Architecture in 2012.

For over a decade, Felix worked at the award-winning Tasmanian-based design firm, Birrelli art+design+architecture as a graphic designer and as a graduate of masters of architecture. In 2018, Felix decided it was time to follow his own path, founding his emerging practice, Blackman architects / creative.

Beyond his architectural and design pursuits, Felix is also a Director at the Charles Blackman Foundation, alongside his siblings. In this role, he serves as a custodian to the ongoing extraordinary legacy of his father, Charles Blackman.

Felix is married to Amelia Padgett, and has a daughter Margaux Ellen and lives in Launceston with their favourite family member, Tippy the Cairn Terrier.
